Strange to be writing about myself, but, I will try to
be judicial and matter-of-fact
It almost goes without saying the Virgis could take home
the Golden Boot about seventy-five percent of the games, and
this week was no exception. His two goals late in the
match at the eighty and eighty-six minute marks were our
only goals of the game (that the ref counted). Bob Vucinic
came forward on a corner kick midway through the first half
and broke near post on a corner (from Virgie). He knocked
a high spinner over the defense with the inside of his
right foot that landed in the goal, unfortunately, the
ref didn't see it. (ok, enough whining).
The key play was a strong challenge in the midfield.
After the take way, Bob laid off the ball to an over-lapping
Virgis who buried it in the far-side netting. It turned
out to be the game winning goal in a match than looked like
it would end in a stalemate.
Who wants it next week............?
