Those were the two top stories this week for the Das Magic Football Club.
The start of the match was marked by a noticable lack of DM players. On the injury reserve list was Henry B (hamstring), Timmy N. (leg fracture), Bob V. (head/knee), Anton J. (knee), Ihor P. (gurth). Representing the collection of no shows was 'No road game' Reed, Jimmy H., Chris R., and a perpeturally absent Joe H. By the end of the match, you could add Alex (heal), Vigis (hamstring), Tommy V. (calf), and add on Chad M.(hamstring) to the long list of injured players. Needless to say, the upcoming week off for the Memorial Day weekend will be a welcome break for all our scraps and bruses.
The tail of the tape was awesome team defense. From Tommy Waters chasing down their forwards to the corners, to Tommy V. winning headers at midfield and keeping Celtic's halfbacks off balance. Eric J. proved once again that good positioning and a quick punch-tip is all you need to keep the goal clear (mostly).
Das Magic mostly controlled the flow of the game in the first half. Solid passing and a compact defensive stance kept the opposition in check. When Trent tipped in a bomber off the post from 38 out, things were looking up for Das Magic. With Chad and Vigis injuring their hammies last in the first half, we didn't have the manpower to push forward in the second half. Save a few breakaway attempts, we packe it in and continually repelled the Celtic attach. Eventually, in the 81st minute, they slipped a quick one touch past the G.M. Jenig.
Let's win it on Sunday.
