This week's review was text messaged to me from our foreign correspondent, Johnny 'Chui' Murillo
Minutes before half time the G.M., playing the field, saw we needed a spark. He had a moment of brilliance and elbowed a guy right in front of the ref, earning him a quick red. Knowing he had to leave at the half, Chris R. subbed in on the left midfield with fifteen minutes remaining. He took the ball down the left wing, battling hard against the Gingers Ale House defense. Out of the struggle, they mistouched the ball, which bounced to Virgis. He was making a run to the far post and happened to be in the right place at the right time. After several errant shots at wednesday's practice, a causious Virgis tapped a tenative dribbler over the goal line. We took the 1-0 lead into the locker room at halftime.
About fifteen into the second half, Virgis took a direct kick from twenty-five out. He first asked for ten and received only eight and a half from the striped shirt. He still managed to knock a well-placed screamer inches inside the near post.
The third goal was a thing of beauty. Henry took the ball down the middle and dished off to Virgis on his right. He left the ball for a charging Timmy N. at the top of the box who drilled it into the netting.Let's settle some old scores against Lincoln Park this sunday.
Another home game at Das Magic Stadium this week.
Let's keep this train rolling...
