After an unexpected off week and some time to organize the ISSA passes, things were looking up in the week leading up to the sunday match...
Well, so much for expectations. Jimmy Harkness, Trent Douglas, Adrian Jimenez and Anton Jenig all had excused absences, too bad they weren't the only ones missing. On a temperate Mother's Day at Das Magic Stadium, we only counted eleven at game time. Henry strolled in at about the halfway point of the first half to make our number twelve. That only lasted until half when Nick Roe made his exit for a coaching gig (I knew about it!).
Since we have over twenty guys on the roster, missing a few didn't seem to be a big deal. Problem was, all the old guys showed and few of the youngins. Guys like Eric and Fergie played well, but, ninety minutes it pushing it for players of their 'experience'. After a close first half in which we missed a plethera of opportunities to score, we were trailing 2-1.
Das Magic continued to press GR-04 in the second half. Their ten man team started to loosen and large gaps appeared in the offensive half for the home team. Soon the flood gates opened and the goals poured in with DM scoring four times in the last thirty minutes. Timmy Neighbors..., I mean Johnny Murillo, ran through their team and the ref marked three "X's" next to his name on the score sheet (we have those now too).
Enjoy the Memorial Weekend Break...
