WrapUp from 06-10-2007

Yes, the team 'manager' (me), did not arrive until a couple minutes after the scheduled 1pm start. No excuses, just late. Although, the lineup was completed before arriving at Conkey Perserve, there were at least three pairs of players wearing the same number. In this new 'officially sanctioned league', that will not fly. After a few adjustments and ten minutes already gone from the first half before the kickoff occurred, we started our first rematch in the NSL.

We easily dispensed of 'Los Chasquis' the first go around, and, even though we played some extremely lazy, sloppy futbol; the same result seemed inevitable. Only some well struck shots kept us out of serious trouble.

There were plenty of goals, some, this reporter didn't even see, but were relayed second hand (so no complains). Chris B. was the first (and second) to get a mark next to his name on the official roster. With shot from left top corner of the box off a short corner kick, Das Magic took a 1-0 led. Not long after, Chris again received a pass in the box on a chest trap. He calmly controlled the ball and knocked a flat left footer passed the falling keeper. Next up was Chris Roe in his first game back. By his own admission, his play was a bit uneven but, he still managed to slide infront of a cross to push a goal in. Reed, waking up from his soccer slumber this week, knocked a clean header in off a well taken corner. Eric finished off the scoring after egging Henry on to finally get a cross off. He neatly hit a flat ball passed the keeper.

A thanks to 'new guy' Chris B. for bringing out the cooler full of beer! More of you should follow his example.

This week we are really having an away game, we are in another rematch against GR-04 up at Olympic park in Schaumburg. Saddle up boys, its time to head north!
