Das Game Summary

('the weekly tally')

WrapUp from 09-30-2007

Usually, starting with all our players on the field and nobody on the bench is not a good omen for Das Magic; especially when the starting eleven includes an overweight, no touch Bob Vucinic, Erich Jenig for ninety minutes and Henry Barsch on zero minutes sleep.

But, somehow, Das Magic made it work. The debate continued into wednesday's post practice discussion as to the quality of the opponent, but, it was agreed, that we worked the ball well and played one of our better team games in a while. The combination of a strong defense (at least in the first half) led by the play of Alex Esparza and high percentage finishing earned us our eleventh win of the 2007 season.

The 8-4 final score in favor of 'Das' was a team effort and the goals were spread about the forwards and midfield. 'The Deliverer' has two, 'Bulldog' added two of his own. Ben Shepherd, returning to the Das Magic fold added a goal off an excellent cross from an ever-improving Johnny 'Sombraz' Murillo.

A tight game leading into the the upcoming playoff tournement looks good for Das Magic as we begin to see the NSL Second Division in our rearview mirror.....
