Das Game Summary

('the weekly tally')

WrapUp from 05-18-2008

The painful memory of the first Das Magic loss in about a year is still stinging ten days later. The review was delayed in the hope of forgetting the loss, but, alas, we are now 2-1-1.

Before the game started, Jimmy stated, they guys 'look' young, fast and good. Turned out, they were younger, faster and good enough to beat us. After beating Stare Byki Blue a couple weeks ago without breaking much of a sweat, we were not expecting much of a struggle with Stare Byki Red.

The game started with several runs at the Das Magic defense, but with Jimmy and Trent in the middle, Tommy Agua on the left and the Vucinic brothers platooning on the right, we held them to a couple week shots.

Eventually, we started generating chances they we just didn't cash in on. Jimmy served up about ten or fifteen header ball chances from dead balls, no finishes. Beyound our inability to flick the ball toward the net where the goaltender was not, Byki Blue did a decent job winning their fair share of headers. In the mean time, there was a good finish by the opposition on a half volly about midway through the first half, putting Das at a 1-0 deficit.

The game got a bit rough at times as the opposing center mid 'karate kicked' Henry in the chest (barely missing his nose). The Vucinic brothers accumulated four yellow cards between them, and Marco got his first outdoor yellow in about twelve years.

Regardless, we couldn't get the ball in the other teams goal. A goal by the home team in the waining minutes of the match set the final tally at 2-0 loss for Das Magic F.C.
