When the late-running softball games finally finished up, the 'Das Magic Corner Flag' was placed on the field for a bit of good luck.

Holy Crap! What a relief! Das Magic is back in the win column!

A fine sunday evening game against FK Republika Srpska marked the return in fine form of Timmy N. and Chris R. to provided the goal-scoring spark we needed. Tim returns from his honeymoon and Chris is back after recently joining the 'Dad' club.

After three straight losses and a foe in the top of the table that tied the second place team last week, the odds were long on the second division Champions. Still, there was reason to be optimistic. Although we had dropped three consecutive games, the last two we had ample opportunity to outscore the other teams and win. We just couldn't get the ball over the goal line.

Not ten minutes into the match, the goal scoring problem was remedied. A corner kick from Chris Roe to Timmy's head near the back post gave Das a quick lead and set the Serbs back on their heals. The 1-0 lead didn't last long when the ref awarded the opposition a direct kick. The curving ball got past Marco to tie the game at 1-1. From that point on, Das Magic had the better of Republika Srpska. Henry B. arrived late and made his presence known in the offensive half. He forced the defense into a foul in the box to get a penalty kick. After missing high on the penalty, Chris Roe retrieved a bad clearance from the goalie and buried a left footer for 2-1 lead that would not be relinquished. Another connection from Chris to Tim's head increased the lead to two goals.

For a short interval, early in the second half, the opposition narrowed the lead to one after converting a controversial non-offside call. But, that was their last gasp. Within minutes, Ben S. scored a 'crotch-shot' goal off a corner kick and later added a deflection off a low flying punt by the keeper to rounded out the scoring for a 5-2 victory. The scoring was nicely spread between Tim and Ben with two goals each and Chris with a goal and two assists!
