Das Game Summary

('the weekly tally')

WrapUp from 08-17-2008

We really needed this one. A victory would put us in the top six for the second half of the season (we thought), a tie or a loss, we were doomed to the bottom six and crappy teams until next year.

We welcomed Chad Moz as a full time Das member with the Golden Boot and got the victory. Although the win was ugly, it didn't put us in the top tier until NK Prijedor lost again to Lemont later in the day.

After only twenty minutes, Das Magic had a very comfortable 4-0 lead against a very mediocre squad, with a horrible goal keeper. The goals where coming fast, ugly and furious. I know Chad had a goal and Chris R. curved in a wind-added hook shot, but, we lost interest and focus in the runaway match. A goalie change for both teams changed our fortunes as we went from 'should we open the beer already' to 'if we tie this game, that would suck!' By half time, the lead was cut to a slim 4-3 and the momentum was not with the good guys.

Well into the secon half there wasn't much continuity on either side and a few flashes resulted in solid goal scoring opportunites that were not converted. Half way through, they tied the game on a solitary effort that beat two defenders and our keeper. With the score 4-4 and only about ten minutes left on the clock, things were desparate. Chris R. continued to get beat on in the middle until it turned into a mugging with choking. The ref saw the retaliation and booted both players.
