WrapUp from 09-07-2008

The pain continues....Another match, another game that should have had a 'W' next to Das Magic F.C. name in the standings table. The same game summary could have been reused four or five times this season. A tie is better than a lost, but, we clearly outplayed Stari Byki Red and deserved a positive result.

On the bright side, there were several good performances left out on the pitch this past weekend. Chad is getting comfortable with our style and generated several goal-scoring opportunities while helping shut down a few offensive rushes by the opposition. Playing on the official 'Filip Vucinic' guest pass, AJ worked the middle and right side of the field in the first and second halves respectively. Instead of going home with two of three assists and a goal, he left with some good memories and beer breath. Moving from the top to the (bottom?) back, Timmy N was a wall at sweeper back commanding the defense and saving a certain goal with a 'Bannerman-like' leg kick, keeping the match tied. Tommy W. served up many dangerous balls from the outside left while Benny was making his presence known all over the field. He as receiving long-balls and winning challenges to keep Byki off balance. Virgis make a few key stops in goal on the rare occasion the the defense broke down.

Of course, Das Magic's 'Man of the Match' and Golden Boot winner was Jimmy H. He not only controlled the middle of the pitch, his goal was crucial in he score and momentum. You can hit the Golden Boot link to round out his exploits.

The final was 1-1, could have been better.

The next game is back to the Das Magic Soccer Dome at Marist with the old familiar start time of 10am! See you there
