Das Game Summary

('the weekly tally')

WrapUp from 09-28-2008

At 9:45 on Sunday morning, the league secretary called me. He just got a call from the manager of FC Steaua. There team was at Das Magic Stadium and nobody was there. They wanted to know if they were are the correct field or if the game was canceled.... At 10:05, Das Magic had ten players. Well, we eventually had eleven, even twelve for the last twenty minutes when Chris R. showed.

The players that decided to show were a bit disorganized for the first twenty minutes trying to find their form. Das actually held pretty well until two toe-balls in about ten minutes put us down 2-0. We started to turn the momentum after that. Erich's great deflection save on a break away in the last five minutes took us into half down by two with a chance to get back in the match if we converted a few chances.

Despite some stellar play in the middle by Chad, Chris, Timmy, and Alex The two excellent goals in the middle of the second half put us down 4-0.

Still, the most impressive thing is Das Magic, short-handed and tired, did not give up! We continued to press and create scoring opportunities. A penalty kick created by Chad and converted by Timmy N. got us on the scoreboard. A shot that trickled in by Josh B. and a game-ending header by Chad made the final tally a 5-3 loss.

The regular season ends with a game against Lemont FC. After that, we are in a round-robin tournament against all the teams we just played. If we show with a full contingent of players and score a few times, there is no reason we should not pick up some hardware at the league banquet after the season!

Who wants to be the hero?

See you there
