WrapUp from 05-31-2009

The second of four consecutive 5:30pm home games turned out to be an unofficial 'Das Family Day' at Das Magic stadium. The Roe Family, the Jenig Family, the Barsch Family, the Vucinic Family and more all out enjoying a great Sunday evening.

Totally contrary to our recent pattern, we came out strong and scored early, taking advantage of the FK Podrinje's defensive mistakes. Before the game was thirty minutes old, Das Magic had scored four goals against a scoreless opponent.

On an ill-advised back pass to their own defender was taken away by an alert and hustling Chad M. He stripped the last defender and calmly knocked the ball into the netting giving the net tender little chance to save the shot.

The next two goals came in quick succession by the same magician. First, the ball was struck quickly across the goal mouth from chad on the wing. Alex hustled to the corner flag and healed the ball back to a waiting Nick R. Before we had anytime to relax and enjoy the two goal cushion, Nick buried a direct kick low around the end of the wall and under a diving keeper.

Das Magic now had a comfortable 3-0 lead with at least fifteen minutes left in the first half. Off a soft pass down the left flank, Mark M was set up with a one-on-one against the overmatched defender. He beat the man left and cut inside past two more Podrinje players. We found and opening and place a well taken shot in to the goal.

The second half started with the opposition taking cheap shots and escalated from there. Eventually, the opponent's slightly masked insanity shown through and the ref called the match. The final score will stand at 4-0, Das Magic victory!

See you next week at 5:30.
