Das Game Summary

WrapUp from 06-09-2009

We had revenge on the mind with Stare Byke Red coming to Das Magic Stadium. A 2-1 lost last year hurt our pride as well as our ankles, knees, thighs and in Henry's case, his chest.

These guys were young, liked to run and had one or two players with decent talent. With both Jimmy and Chris R on the lamb, there was a question mark about our ability to control this match from the middle as we usually do.

Although a quick goal gave use an early 1-0 lead, it was an uncomfortable lead. The defense was solid and was not allowing any good opportunities for Red. The top two thirds of the squad would string together a few good passes and there was some decent individual efforts that could have widened the margin, but, there was no joy.

A wide open break away that was pushed wide by the opposition and a penalty kick that was not converted by Das only heightened the tension. Even though they were pressed, Trent and the defense stood strong and did not allow anything through in the last fifteen minutes. Despite a lack of fluidity in our play, the midfield pressed hard defensively and Das Magic settled for the 1-0 victory.

With two more games played then the rest of the division, Das Magic FC is in first place with 10 points (which should be 13 if not for the shit-ass loss for too many players on the roster to Khaboor). NK Prijedor is behind us with 8 points and only 4 games played. Let's knock around Republika Srpska on Sunday at 5:30....
