WrapUp from 08-16-2009

I can still taste the sweet victory from Sunday's routing of 'We will do anything for a win in the standings' Khaboor. To say we wanted to destory this team, would be to state the obvious. After stealing away our first victory and first place along with it, we had strong motivation going into this match.

After a soggy afternoon and some problems with the nets, Das Magic was ready to pounce when the starting whistle blew. Not five minutes into the match, the pressure our midfield and offense applied resulted in a defensive handball and direct kick from just outside the penalty box. Chris R. steamed a low shot to the left of the wall and aided by the wet grass, the ball skipped into the net to give us a 1-0 lead. This set the tone from the rest of the game.

After playing overly aggressive on defensive at the start, the back four settled into a solid perimeter. Led by tremendous sweeping and stopping by Fulton and Mike K.respectively, the number of quality opportunites for Khaboor could be counted on someone's big toes!

With ther offense locked up in the midfield, the offense continued to pour it on. A though ball on the left side found Chad on the run. He got on the end of the pass and calmly knocked the ball passed the goalie. Soon after Ben took another ball wide and crossed it into the goal mouth for Josh to make it 3-0.

The opposition was completely out of the match an resorted to cheap fouls and a bunch of weak talk from the sidelines. In the second half, the momentum did not change. We continued to pour on the offense. Ben beat the defense on a though ball and tallied another goal to make it 4-0.

To sweeten this victory even more, the sprinkler system went off with 15 minutes remaining in the game, giving Khaboor another protest point; at the same time, giving Das Magic a big laugh! Thank goodness Chris Roe was around to manually turn off the sprinklers after ten minutes. The game resumed long enough for another 'old guy' to get behind their defenders. Al Cassidy sprinted for a breakaway down the right side of the field, he chipped the goalie to pad the final score for a total of Das Magic 5 and Khaboor gets the big goose egg!

...let's keep it rolling 3pm at Conkey Fields!
