The forecast called for rain and thunderstorms on Sunday morning, but the skies were clear. That is pretty much how the game went as well.As I arrived at the typical Das Magic time, 3 minutes before game time, Hellenic United was doing their warm up routine. We got out regular starting lineup on the field, the first 11 ready and the whistle blew. The teams were evenly matched at first but soon it became obvious that we had a whole lot more chemistry. We had several opportunities at goal but could not seem to finish.
Finally, Nick Roe received a pass on the right side, beat one guy, bulled through another one, and burried a right foot shot in the left side netting earning him the Golden Boot. There were good performances on the defensive side, Reed had a great diving save to stop a free kick from tying up the game. With fifteen minutes left in the match, Paul had a break away on the left side from a goal kick from Reed. He outran the defender, stopped on a dime, and took a shot from about 20 yards out for the 2-0 lead.
A good result and it was good to see the semi-retired Das Magicians and Chad's girlfriend on the sidelines; sometimes cheering us on and sometimes wondering...... HOW ARE THESE GUYS WINNING..... Lets keep it up.
